The gym was filled with green on March 13th as athletes from Rockford Volleyball Club came together to celebrate “St. Pat’s Day,” a club tradition honoring the legacy of former director Pat Meinert.
Far more than just a nod to St. Patrick’s Day, this annual event holds deep meaning for the Rockford volleyball community. Pat Meinert, a passionate coach and leader, left a lasting impact on the Stateline area before her passing from cancer. Her dedication to the sport and her players continues to shape the heart of the club today.
To celebrate, athletes donned their most festive green attire, from shamrock headbands to glittery socks, all in the spirit of fun and remembrance. The club also hosted a friendly competition, awarding prizes to those who showed the most holiday spirit. The result was a gym full of laughter, camaraderie, and a beautiful tribute to a woman whose love for the game lives on.
“Pat poured herself into this club and into her players,” said Mark Green, Club Director. “St. Pat’s Day is our way of keeping her memory alive and celebrating the joy and unity she brought to the court.”
With plenty of smiles and festive outfits this year’s St. Pat’s Day was a reminder that the best traditions are the ones rooted in love, legacy, and a little bit of volleyball magic.
