Club Program
Club Volleyball is an opportunity for athletes to
extend their high school volleyball season, play at a
higher level, travel to compete, make new friends, and
learn new techniques on an organized level.
Rockford Volleyball club has the philosophy of
"Athletes First-Winning Second". Winning is important,
but teaching life lessons to kids is more important. we
are not a 'Win-at-all-cost" club; the well-being of the
child is most important.
Rockford Volleyball Club will offer an innovative
training opportunity for athletes in 2008 as the club
continues to build a competitive volleyball program.
●
Small team size (8 players) giving all players
opportunity for ample playing time and an 8:1
player:coach ratio.
● Performance Training with Top Performers certified
strength trainers
(14's & older)
● Competitive opportunities to be selected for teams
which will compete in Great Lakes Regional Qualifier
tournaments.
● Competitive opportunities to be selected for teams
which will compete in National Qualifiers
● Opportunities to train with higher level players even
though you may choose to play other school sports an
dare unable to participate in travel tournaments
(Qualifiers)
Here's how it works...
ATHLETES ATTEND TRYOUTS
The top 16 players in each age range will be selected
per training squad. The training squad is designed to
create a competitive training environment where athletes
are pushed to their potentials to perform at their
highest levels.
Each training squad will be
registered as two teams. This will allow for plenty of
playing time for all members of the squad. This will
also allow for more "flow" between the two teams in the
squad. if a player is working hard and improving, she
has a chance to earn a spot on the stronger team of the
squad. Each of the two teams will be entered in home
tournaments and Power League. One head coach and one
assistant coach will be assigned to each training squad.
Out of each training squad, only
one team will be selected to go to Regionals and
Qualifier(s). Fees for these tournaments are over and
above the basic fee charged for dues. Regional and
Qualifier teams will be selected based on player
availability, practice effort, positions needed, and
prompt payment of tournament fee. Maximum number of 12
players may be selected for these travel events. The
Head coach may decide to select fewer than 12 players.
Top athletes who play other school
sports may be part of training squads. If these players
cannot commit to playing qualifiers, they are still able
to train with the best volleyball players in the area.
Included in the basic dues for
squads 14 and older are 24 strength and performance
training sessions with Top Performers-Sports Performance
Training. Their goal is to help teams enhance players'
performance by: Integrating speed technique, first step
explosion and multi-directional quickness in a
functional and sport-specific setting, to improve speed
and performance on the playing field, and bring
conditioning and speed to the next level to win
championships. Squads will train with Top Performers
twice weekly for 45 minute sessions. Athletes will
improve their: Explosiveness, Speed, Quickness, Agility,
Core strength, Conditioning, Balance, Injury Prevention,
Flexibility and Biomechanical efficiency.
