Rockford Park District Volleyball Programs

All programs are directed by Pat Meinert, Volleyball/Athletics Coordinator, and conducted at Indoor Sports Center, 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park.

Itty Bitty Bumpers (grades K-3)
Itty Bitty Bumpers introduces basic volleyball skills in a fun, non-threatening environment. A lower net and lighter balls are used in training. Instructors include Rockford Club players and coaches. Program dates coincide with Sunday Adult co-ed leagues and run from 5:00-6:00 pm.

Dates: 
Session 1 – September 9 – October 28, 2007 (7 weeks)
Session 2 – November 11 – December 23, 2007 (7 weeks)
Session 3 – January 6, 2008 – February 17, 2008  (7 weeks)
Session 4 – April 6 – May 18, 2008 (6 weeks) 5:00-6:10 pm

Time:   Sundays, 5-6:00 p.m.

Fee:      $45 per session – Resident/$50 – Non-resident (includes T-shirt & training ball)
Participant Limit:  32 participants

Mitey Spikers (grades 3, 4, & 5) – Instructional with some game play.
All basic skills of volleyball will be taught in a progressive proficiency program. Skills of the game will be applied to game play as players become proficient in skills. Coaches include Rockford club coaches and players. A volley-lite training ball is awarded to each athlete who completes the program.

Fall Session:                 September 10 – October 22, 2007 (7 weeks)
                                    Mondays 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Winter Session:             January 11 – February 15, 2008 (6 weeks)
                                    Fridays 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Spring Session:             April 25 – May 30, 2008 (6 weeks)
                                    Fridays 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Fee:      $85 per session – Resident (includes T-shirt)
            $90 per session – Non-resident (includes T-shirt)         
Participant Limit:  32 per session

Aces Pre-Club (grades 6, 7, & 8) – Instruction plus Competition
This youth program offers a combination of instructional plus game play. All basic skills of volleyball will be taught, reviewed, and practiced in a progressive proficiency program spanning from basics if needed through advanced skills and techniques if athlete displays readiness. Coaches include Rockford club coaches and players. A volleyball is awarded to each athlete who completes the program.

Fall Session:                 September 7 – October 26, 2007 (7 weeks)
                                    Fridays 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Winter Session:             January 11 – February 15, 2008 (6 weeks)
                                   Fridays 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Spring Session:             April 25 – May 30, 2008 (6 weeks)
                                    Fridays 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Fee:      $85 per session – Resident (includes T-shirt)

Co-ed High School Scramble League (grades 9-12) – Instruction plus Competition
This youth program offers a combination of instructional plus game play. A skills clinic will be held prior to each Scramble League date for players interested in improving their individual skills. Here is how “Scramble” works:  each player has a name tag which goes into a box. Teams are drawn from this box. Games may be 3, 4, 5, or 6 person depending on how many players are present each session. Individuals keep track of their individual “wins” and prizes are awarded at the end of each session.

Winter Session:             January 11 – February 15, 2008 (6 weeks)
                                    Fridays 7:00 – 8:00 Clinic; 8:00 – 11:00 pm Scramble
Spring Session:             April 25 – May 30, 2008 (6 weeks)
                                    Fridays 7:00 – 8:00 Clinic; 8:00 – 11:00 pm Scramble

Fee:      $70 per session – Resident (includes T-shirt)
            $80 per session – Non-resident (includes T-shirt)
            $10 for drop-ins weekly          
Participant Limit:  32 per session

 Youth Summer Double Header Leagues

  • Four Divisions offered
    • Girls Varsity (Mondays)
    • Girls JV-Freshmen-Sophomores/Boys 14 & under (Wednesdays)
    • Mixed Junior High – girls, boys, mixed teams welcomed (Thursdays)
  • Seven weeks of play – 2 matches each night
  • Team sign ups (will take names of individuals)
  • 2 out of 3 game matches – rally scored to 25 points
  • 50 minutes warm-up/playing time
  • Challenge format (winner moves to a tougher court, loser moves “down”)

 Dates:

  • High School Girls Varsity – Beginning June 9
  • High School Girls Sub-Varsity/Boys 14 & under – Beginning June 11
  • Junior High – Beginning June 12

Times:  Early session – 5:00-7:30          Late session 7:30-10:00
(First 12 teams that sign up start in the early session)
Team Limit:  24 teams for each division
Fee:      $230 per team

ADULT INDOOR VOLLEYBALL – 2007-2008 

SUNDAY COED 6’s

  • Ages 19 and over
  • Two sessions
    • Fall begins September 9, 2007 (14 weeks)
    • Winter begins January 6, 2008 (14 weeks)
  • Start time for matches will be between 4:00 pm and 9:10 pm at the latest.
  • 3 game matches – rally scored
  • All matches officiated

DIVISIONS:    Competitive, Intermediate, Recreational
FEE:                 $360 per team for Fall session
LIMIT: 48 teams 

TUESDAY WOMEN’S 6’S

  • Ages 19 and over
  • Three sessions
    • Fall begins September 11, 2007 (14 weeks)
    • Winter begins January 8, 2008 (14 weeks)
    • Spring begins April 15, 2008 (7 weeks)
  • Start time for matches will be between 6:00 pm and 9:10 pm at the latest.
  • 3 game matches – rally scored
  • All matches officiated

DIVISIONS:    Competitive, Intermediate, Recreational
FEE:                 $360 per team per session for Fall and Winter
                        $180 per team for Spring session
LIMIT: 28 teams

  • Ages 19 and over

WEDNESDAY WOMEN’S 4’S

  • Ages 19 and over
  • Two sessions
    • Fall begins September 12, 2007 (5 weeks)
    • Spring begins March 5, 2008 (13 weeks)
  • Start time for matches will be between 6:00 pm and 9:10 pm at the latest.
  • 3 game matches – rally scored
  • All matches are self-officiated

FEE:                 $80 per team for Fall session
                        $200 per team for Spring session
LIMIT: 12 teams

Open Gym - $5 per participant

Ψ      Fridays:  September 7 – December 21; 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Ψ      Fridays:  January 11 – February 15; 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Ψ      Fridays:  April 25 – May 30; 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

 Adult Scramble - $5 per participant or $30 for the whole summer session.

 Registration Information

  • Fall registration begins August 1, 2007, and ends August 31, 2007.
  • Winter registration begins December 1, 2007 and ends December 29, 2007.
  • Spring registration for Wednesday Women 4’s and Coed 6’s begins February 1, 2008 and ends March 1, 2008.
  • Spring registration for all other leagues begins March 1, 2008 and ends April 6, 2008.
  • Registration must include full payment
  • Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis.
